The Passport

The Family Care Passport delivers high value to family caregivers. The Passport itself is a savings passbook-sized document that is packed with "how-to" information, key forms and checklists, and important services at favorable discounts to caregivers and their families. Features include:

An initial, prepaid consultation with a highly trained and empathetic Care Advisor. This telephone-based consultation typically lasts 12 to 20 minutes (as long as it takes to address the issue the caregiver raised). Indeed, because the Care Advisor deals with the caregiver’s most immediate and pressing issue, the consultation provides enormous help to the Passport Holder. The value of this call is at least $25.00, and probably much more based on typical hourly fees charged by care advisors. (Thereafter, the members can contact the Care Advisor on an as-needed basis at a discounted cost.)

Access to important products and services, such as:

  • Home care products and home health services;
  • Home improvement specialists catering to the needs of caregiving families (making homes wheelchair accessible, for example).
  • Non-emergency transportation services (taking the care recipient to and from medical appointments, for example);
  • Real estate agents specially trained in the needs and sensitivities of elder care recipients, plus discounts on the brokerage fees and reverse mortgage transactions related to caregiving situations;
  • Bill paying and personal accounting services (of great value in long-distance caregiving situations and when the caregiver is responsible for someone else’s finances).

While the content of the Passport will be completely objective - by design and necessity - the ultimate mix of products and services will depend on the issues that are most important to the program's Sponsors.
